A Seasoned Realtor Builds Her Career in Tahoe
A veteran in her field, Ricki Manahan is an excellent strategist and negotiator when it comes to real estate. Her experience and expertise in the Tahoe-Truckee region are among her greatest assets, alongside the dedication she has to her clients. It comes as no surprise that she has earned several of the industry’s most prestigious awards. Her passion for her job is matched only with her love for Lake Tahoe, where she also happens to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
“You have mountains and deserts, and rivers and the ocean; everything you could possibly want is in California. In fact, so many movies have been shot in California, and you’d think they’re in other parts of the world. It’s insane.”
All Roads Lead to Tahoe
After spending a vacation in Lake Tahoe during her time at Arizona State University, Ricki knew she needed to move there. It took five years to make that happen but she’s been a proud resident there ever since. In addition to the variety of acceptance, what drew her to California in general was that it features landscapes ranging from the ocean to mountains, rivers, and deserts. As for Lake Tahoe in particular, it was the crystal clear waters surrounded by mountains that did the trick for her.
Ricki stepped into the world of real estate after working for a company that sold software and hardware. She considers each house that she works with as her new baby. Her favorite part about being a real estate agent, however, is that she learns something new from each client as she gets to know what they like. Ricki’s specialty is listening to what a client wants and finding it whether it’s on the market or not.
Ricki’s advice for first-time buyers is to get a grounding on where they want to be. According to her, it’s a good idea to know what the people who live there are like. She recommends visiting the grocery store of the area to get a feel of the locals. Ricki also suggests guaranteeing a good credit score before planning on a real estate investment.
Indulging in the Community
Aside from selling houses, Ricki enjoys keeping up with art festivals, music events, and anything the Tahoe-Truckee community has to offer. She also loves being involved in the schools that her five kids attend, especially as they also participate in sports. Another item you’ll find on Ricki’s schedule is volunteering in the planning commission, where her thorough knowledge of the different places around Tahoe — thanks to being a real estate agent — comes in handy.
When she’s not selling houses, cheering for her kids, or volunteering in planning committee meetings, Ricki loves to indulge in pickleball, skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and skate skiing. She also enjoys hiking around Lake Tahoe, where she’s constantly reminded of the stunning views she fell in love with years ago.
